And it is called Scan_001.pdf through Scan_312.pdf.
This is one of the most common, most frustrating file organization problems. You went through the effort of digitizing, but now the files are essentially unsearchable. Somewhere in there is the lease from 2019 or the doctor note from last fall, but finding it means opening files one by one.
Why Scanned Files Are a Special Problem
Most batch renaming works when files already have some useful information in the name. Scanned files are different. Scan_047 could be anything. You need to look inside each file before you can name it sensibly. At 300 files, that is not something you can do manually without a huge time investment.
Your Options
Rename manually: Open each file, read it, rename it. Fine for 20-30 files. For larger batches, this is where people give up.
Use your scanner app: Apps like Adobe Scan and Microsoft Lens let you name documents at scan time. Great if you are still scanning. Does not help files you already have.
Desktop batch tools: Bulk Rename Utility (Windows) or A-Better-Finder-Rename (Mac) apply rules-based renaming. But they cannot read PDF content. Scan_001 through Scan_312 becomes Document_001 through Document_312. Better format, same problem.
